Landguard Fort, Suffolk

Explaining The Landguard Peninsula

Landguard Fort, the Viewpoint Cafe, Felixstowe Museum, and the car park all sit within the area of; a Nature Reserve (LNR), a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and an Ancient Monument (SAM). The area attracts over 500,000 visitors a year.

We were commissioned by the Landguard Trust to help them understand how the area may be better explained to visitors, and how to encourage the public to engage with more of the attractions.

Our proposals included painting the car park to show the size of the ships, improved viewing areas, a micro-museum, and a ‘bus stop interface’ showing where the ships were coming from and going to.

A number of these ideas are being implemented as part of the sites phased development.
